Make time for dancing

Dancing Explained... Ballroom vs Sequence

In Ballroom Dancing the man leads his partner and chooses what steps they will perform
So all couples on the floor are doing their own thing... When you see ballroom dancing on
TV ( like ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ ) you are watching ‘exhibition dancing’ and this is not
typical of ‘Modern Ballroom / Latin Dancing’ you would find at a social function...

In Sequence Dancing all couples do the same steps at the same time... Something like
formation dancing, but progressing around the floor in a ‘anti-clockwise’ direction...

The sequence for most dances like the Mayfair Quickstep or Balmoral Blues etc. is
16 bars in length... This is repeated several times during the course of the dance, making
is easy to follow... many people learn sequence dancing this way. You will soon find yourself
doing dances based on the Quickstep, Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Mambo, Salsa, Jive etc...
Because all couples dance together in this way it makes the learning process easier...
A new dance may be introduced by only 1 or 2 couples but within a week or two most people will have ‘picked it up’

Why not come along and have a look one Tuesday afternoon ( Wilsden ) or Thursday afternoon ( Bradford )...
You do not need special dance shoes just comfortable well fitting shoes with a smooth sole (not rubber etc)...
you will be made very welcome ( tea / coffee and biscuits provided ) we feel sure you will not be disappointed

Dancing provides... Mental stimulation, Social contact and Gentle exercise...  Click for further benefits
