Make time for dancing

Dancing Explained... Ballroom vs Sequence

In Ballroom dancing the man leads his partner and chooses what steps they will perform...
So all couples on the floor are doing their own thing... When you see ballroom dancing on
TV ( like strictly come dancing ) you are watching ‘exhibition dancing’ and this is not  typical
of ballroom  dancing you would find at a social function

In Sequence dancing all couples do the same steps at the same time...
Something like formation dancing. progressing around the floor in a ‘anti-clockwise’ direction

The sequence for most dances like the Mayfair Quickstep or Balmoral Blues etc. is 16 bars
in length... This is repeated several times during the course of the dance... if you watch carefully
you can join in yourself... many people learn sequence dancing this way. You will find yourself
doing sequence dances based on the Quickstep, Foxtrot, Waltz, Rumba, Mambo, Salsa, etc...
Because all couples dance together in this way it makes the learning process easier... For example a new dance
may be introduced by only 1 or 2 couples but within a week or two most people will have ‘picked it up’

Why not come along and have a look one Tuesday afternoon...
You do not need special dance shoes just comfortable well fitting shoes with a smooth sole (not rubber etc)...
you will be made very welcome ( tea / coffee and biscuits provided ) we feel sure you will not be disappointed

Dancing provides... Mental stimulation, Social contact and Gentle exercise...  Click for further benefits
